March 10, 2024 was an incredible day, thanks to all the cast and crew that made history at the Chicago History Museum.
“Red – A Crayon’s ASL Story” brought together more than 110 kids and families to read, laugh, sign and play led by the Chicago Hearing Society and the SISP team.
If you weren’t able to make it, here’s a rundown of the afternoon:
Sarah and Michael introduced the film and spoke about the magic of working as an ensemble.

We were welcomed by Nell McKeown from the museum who made us feel at home and invited us to tour the museum after the program.
Crom Saunders helped us stay on our toes with stretching exercises midway through the film.
After the screening, three actors from the film came on stage to each present a special activity.

When the show was done, Chicago Hearing Society provided a full array of activities in the lobby including:
Making huge souvenir crayons out of swim noodles, plastic cups and tape
Adding colored stickers to a rainbow made by Karla’s daughter to represent all the different colors of our diversity
Eating delicious snacks and chatting with friends new and old
Distributing Swag Bags with books tailored to kids of different ages and reading levels.
